Okay so you're
ready to start looking at what you can do about your hair
loss. If you haven't already, its strongly suggested
that you review Part
2 - Your First Steps for some preliminary
information you should not go without. If you have read
it, you will already know that the main methods for combating
balding today are to inhibit DHT, maintain a healthy scalp
environment, or stimulate growth.
We are going to discuss the
proven hair loss treatments, and the unproven hair loss
treatments which have helped many. If you don't see
the product listed here, it has not made enough of a stir
to warrant being mentioned.

Propecia
- Propecia's claim to fame
is to maintain. 83% of men studied were able to
maintain their original follicle count, and 64% experienced
regrowth after 2 years. Propecia does this by inhibiting
the creation of DHT in your system. If you are not
familiar with what DHT does, please review our Quick
Explanation.

Rogaine (Minoxidil)
- Minoxidil's claim to fame
is stimulating growth. 59% experienced increased
hair-count after 4 months of use. Minoxidil does
not inhibit one of the main causes of thinning hair, DHT.
However, a combination regimen of Minoxidil and Propecia
together are known to be probably the most effective treatment
available today.

Crinagen
- Crinagen makes use of
a very powerful ingredient known as Azelaic
Acid, and is a completely natural topical
scalp preparation. Its ingredients perform two basic
functions: decrease the production of DHT, and affect
the blood vessels that nourish follicles in the scalp.
Two other powerful ingredients in Crinagen are Zinc
and Saw Palmetto. Both agents have been shown to block
the formation of DHT.

Folligen
- Folligen is a non-drug
product meant to improve scalp and follicle health and
vitality. Folligen has been shown to be especially useful
in helping to reduce scalp irritation caused by other
growth products such as Minoxidil. Copper complexes
have been proven in studies to stimulate regrowth, and
Folligen contains several thousand copper peptides,
and Saw Palmetto.

Tricomin
- Tricomin has been shown
in clinical trials to cause growth, and was created
by the same man who created Folligen. It uses
specific Copper Peptides to stimulate naturally dormant
follicles into their growth phases, effectively inhibiting
the damaging work of DHT. Additional components
such as Panthenol add desirable structural qualities
to the follicle, building body and adding shine. Tricomin
products can be used effectively with other treatments
including Rogaine and Propecia, providing additional
benefit to the follicle and surrounding environment.

Proxiphen
/ Proxiphen-N
- Proxiphen-N is a topical
formulation of many nonprescription hair loss treatment
agents, similar to the product mentioned above. These
include various SODases, copper-binding peptides, and
pyridine-N-Oxide growth stimulators.
- Proxiphen contains
Minoxidil, as well as the prescription agents Phenytoin,
Tretinoin (Retin-A), and Spironolactone ( a potent topically-effective
antiandrogen ). Meant for stimulating regrowth, many
people say they've seen results using it or Prox-N mentioned
above. Because it contains prescription agents,
Proxiphen can only be dispensed on a physician's diagnosis
of balding.
